This issue’s column was intended to be inspiring and cele-
bratory about the acknowledged role that knowledge has in clin-
ical care and learning health systems. It is also an attempt to
delve into the realities faced by health care providers and admin-
istrators, EBP proponents and researchers, and information pro-
fessionals regarding the acquisition, evaluation, and
implementation of biomedical knowledge into practice. Here at
VUMC, we are fortunate to have organizational support and re-
sources to address these challenges. Organizational support at all
levels of management is integral to realize the full potential of
