 • Advised Netflix in its continued efforts to build its original content programming in Africa, which is currently being led by the development and production of a live action TV series to be produced by Mo Abudu and Ebony Life Film and TV. The TV series will be based on the novel “The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives” written by Lola Shoneyin. The book explores polygamy, envy, and sexual assault in modern-day Nigeria. The firm advised Netflix’s original content team for EMEA region based out of Amsterdam, on structuring the commissioning agreement and localizing it for the Nigerian film and TV industry. The TV series is now in production and is expected to premiere on the streaming service later this year.
• Represented Disney TV Animation in connection with a number of projects, including “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse”, “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder”, Marvel’s “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur”, “The Ghost and Molly McGee” and “Monsters at Work.”
• Represented Campanario Entertainment as production counsel in connection with “Selena: The Series”, which premiered on Netflix last month. We negotiated agreements with Selena Quintanilla’s family, the writers of the series, and the main cast.
• Represented Gunpowder & Sky in connection with the bidding war negotiation for its Tekashi 69 documentary
• Represented actor-director-producer Emilio Estevez on various projects, including the negotiation of his deal to reprise his role as Gordon Bombay in the Disney+ series “Mighty Ducks”, currently in production in Vancouver.
