Regardless of the Recovery Agent’s decision, if the repossession was accomplished
with no violations and the police officer persists in ordering the Recovery Agent to
release the collateral, the Recovery Agent’s employer should contact the police
officer’s superior, explain that the repossession was completed legally and request the
superior intervene and advise the police officer to allow the repossession to stand.
