manipulating dynamics in order to give some elements of the trailer more impact - e.g. explosions.
3) They select appropriate instrumentation to support their work. They might attempt to compose their own contrasting theme with

performance.
2) They attempt to match these up in time
with the visual with some success - they might get one section in tim but then play it to slow or fast to match the visual at another point.
They are aware of dynamics and attempt to use.
3) They select appropriate instrumentation to support their work. They might attempt to vary the existing themes. Musical style clear.

although there may be some sense of direction.

1) Students attempt to perform in a group along with the trailer. They fail to link any of the themes with the visual cues. No real consideration of how choice of timbre/instruments could effect the outcomes.
