Tips to Find the Type of Bond
We will learn to find the type of bond by subtracting electronegativities. But I’m always trying to make your life easier, so here are tricks to find the type of bond.
1. Ionic bond: metal + nonmetal
Ionic – ‘o’ for opposite. Ionic bonds connect opposite
2. Nonpolar covalent bond: elements – metals and
2 atoms of the same
nonmetal
3. Polar covalent bond:
2 different nonmetals 4.Metallic bond: 2 or more
of the same metal
nonmetals.
Covalent – vale. A bride’s veil is made out of nonmetal materials. Covalent bonds are between nonmetals.
Metallic bonds – 2 of the same metals bond.
