RESULTS
A total of 63 race horses (with FECs ranging from 150-4225 epg) used in the
study including 12 untreated control horses (2 in each site group) with the remaining
51 treatment horses in site groups of 8-11 horses.
The FECRT estimated the ivermectin efficacy in experimental groups to be
99.79% in Jargalant and Argalant soum, 100% in Sumber soum, Tov aimag, 99.00%
in Baganuur city, 98.59% in the Gachuurt district of Ulaanbaatar, 99.75% in Sumber
soum of Gobisumber and 100% in Olzeet khoroo of UB city.
CONCLUSIONS
1. 92% of Mongolian horses are infected with high and medium intensities of
Strongylidae spp and Parascaris equorum; dominant nematode is Strongylus
vulgaris.
2. Ivermectin resistance in dominant nematode infections of race horse in
Mongolia has not been determined by FECRT.
3. Ivermectin resistance in nematode infection of race horse in Mongolia has not
been found by larval culturing.
4. Recommended for the usage of ivermectin to treat equine nematode infection.
