P. 7
Do what you need to do to stay on track of reaching your end goal. It’s not always a straight shot.
Sometimes these detours are just what we needed. Be objective with the detour and evaluate it.
Sometimes detours are an excellent disruption.
–DR. SANDI SHAW
Reevaluate
Evaluating your progress is not a one-time occurrence. In fact, it should be a part of your
action plan. Evaluate where you are and how you’re doing periodically, depending on the length
of your goal. Avoid micromanaging yourself. On the other end of the spectrum – avoid
macromanaging and not ever checking in with yourself. Now that you’re further along into your
action plan, it’s time to evaluate this last stage of momentum. The same steps and tips from
above apply here as well. In addition, think about these questions:
• Am I still on track for my purpose or goal?
• Who do I need for support and encouragement?
• How does the rest of my action plan compare to where I am now?
• If I’ve had detours, do I need to update the next steps of my plan?
• What do I need to do to modify my plan?
Momentum
About this time in your journey, you may begin to feel like you don’t have the energy to
keep going. You’ve had to make more detours than you’d planned or realized you would need to
make. Draw from your greatest inner strength. Statistica Brain conducted a study in which they
measured how far someone actually made it on their path to achieving their goals before
3
quitting.
