Biography
Lisa Caplan is a senior vice president and leads the Care Delivery Technology Services (CDTS) team for Kaiser Permanente’s Information Technology team. In this role, Lisa leads a team of approximately 2800 employees and 850 on and off-shore contractors responsible for delivering enterprise-wide and local (regional) services and solutions. Lisa oversees an annual budget of over $1B, between operating and investment funds. This includes management of enterprise systems such as KP HealthConnect, Kaiser Permanente’s industry-leading electronic health record, clinical ancillary systems such as laboratory, pharmacy, medical imaging, radiology, health information exchange, clinical call center, biomedical device integration, and population health and analytics platforms. Lisa also has management responsibility for Kaiser Permanente’s national facilities information technologies, and all eight of Kaiser Permanente’s regional information officers. Lisa and her team also support development of enterprise care delivery technology strategies, multi-year planning, and regional technology strategies.
Prior to her role at Kaiser Permanente, Lisa was a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting, and then became a partner at Accenture. She also worked for two national health information system vendors, performing roles in product management, sales, implementation, and account management.
Lisa earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Health Information Administration from Loma Linda University. She received a Master’s in Public Health, focusing on Health Services and Health Information Systems, from the University of California, Los Angeles. Lisa has also completed executive programs at both MIT/Sloan and Harvard Business School. Lisa is a credentialed Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). In 2011, Lisa was named as one of Computerworld’s Premier 100 IT Leaders. In 2015, Lisa was named as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Technology by the National Diversity Council.
