Figure 11-11D–G. The part brought up is laid alongside the end and pinched between your fingertips. To viewers, it
looks like the bight one-third along the length of the string, which is actually hidden (D). Cut the “false” bight, trim-
ming the top ends the same length if necessary. Cut the bottom bight, too, and trim the ends. Then bring up the three
bottom ends (to the right in this view) to display alongside the top ends. “All ends are the same length, so the pieces
are the same length.” Grab the three indicated ends and pull them out of your hand (E). Somehow, the ends are not
the same length. Arrange as shown in right hand, “short, medium, and long” (F). After thoroughly displaying the three
different lengths, hold them in your left hand in the order shown. Bring up the bottom end of the long piece and lay it
between the short and medium pieces. Practice diligently to make this a smoothly deceptive move. Then bring up the
other two ends and lay them alongside the short piece (G).
