      Objective: Drawing circles

  Lesson Plan:
Practising and showing competence at drawing circles. Linking Georgia the Shetland Pony with circles.
1. On a table provide the children with a copy of page 84 from the Activities Manual or print off the same page from the IWB programme and a selection of pencils. 2. Demonstrate and explain to the children that they are expected to look at the
shape at the top of the page and then copy the shape in the empty boxes. 3. The children can then complete the worksheet independently.
Things to Consider:
1. Keep a record of each child’s performance.
It represents the development of visual-motor integration, a key skill that underpins readiness to learn to write.
Support:
Use hand over hand to help support young children so they can ‘feel’ the movement and understand how to control the movement in their upper limbs.
Use vertical surfaces. This helps with visual tracking.
Large movements are easier than small movements. Create opportunities to do similar activities within the classroom environment.
