CONTEXT OF THE SCHOOL
Coronationville secondary school was established in 1899. The school principal is Mr.
Billings. It caters for both male and female students with present enrollment of 979
learners from grade 8-12. The staff is made up of 30 male and female teachers. It also
have 3 administrators, 5 general assistants, 1 person who sells food in the school. There
are 5 heads of department, and 2 deputy principals. Therefore, in total the school have
39 staff members in the school premise.
The school is made up of 3 block names 0,1 and 2. It is made of 30 classrooms, 1 life
sciences laboratory, 1 physicals sciences laboratory. It is made up of two halls, one
printing station, 1 library and 1 consumer studies laboratory. It has 1 shop where learners
buys food. 10 out of 30 of the schools has smart screens and smartboards, mainly classes
that belongs to the HODs have them.
The school is situated between two communities called Coronation and Slovo. Slovo is
an informal settlement. This is where most of the learners come from.
VALUES OF THE SCHOOL
Compassion: This is one of the main core values of the school given then
uniqueness of the school, especially in terms of the diversity in learners hailing
from various backgrounds. Teachers are to compassionately carry out their day to
day duties bearing in mind the importance of the pedagogy of care.
Tolerance: Both teachers and learners must, always, be tolerant with one another
irrespective of any matter at hand. Learners are to tolerate other learners of
different backgrounds, race, gender, religion and social status.
Respect: All the stakeholders (learners, teachers, parents, school management
and the SGB) are to treat one another with respect and dignity in order to create a
conducive environment for effective teaching and learning to take place. The
school environment should be unbiased and fair.
Hard work: As the school, we believe that every child can learn and be able to
produce whatever they purpose in their hearts, so we promote, encourage and
endorse hard work as the important value especially having certain goals to
accomplish every year.
