Love was in the air last Wednesday at the Dinuba Branch Library as many children participated in the library's Valentine's Day craft project. Those who participated got to make various Valentines gifts, ranging from cards, candy packages and hearts of yarn. (Above) Two visitors pick out Valentine decorations.

Four Dinuba High FFA members made it all the way to the State Finals in pruning this year. Representing the Dinuba Chapter were Angelica Mondragon, Brandon Avilez, Nathan Martin and Jesus Gutierrez.
Dinuba FFA nishes successful vine season
the member’s public speaking ability and industry related terminology. Another contest component is the general knowledge test. The test assesses students on the different varieties of grapes, pruning history, pruning methods, plant physiology and other industry related knowledge.
State Finals brought four members to compete against the other top teams across California. Team members included Angelica Mondragon, Brandon Avilez, Nathan Martin and Jesus Gutierrez. Nathan Martin, a senior member on the team, was asked what he liked about the vine season.
Nathan said, “The vine season was great overall. It was a great learning experience and I enjoyed all of the competitions and practices. I encourage more members to participate.” Dinuba is very proud of the time and hard work these kids have put in. We cannot wait to see what successes next year’s vine pruning team brings.
Palm Elementary School recognized six students during the Cutler Orosi Joint Unified School District’s Board of Trustee meeting on Thursday. Students were introduced to the board and members in attendance by their teachers. Those who received certificates of achievement were (pictured left to right) Daniel Rocha, Martin Hernandez, Aubrielle Garza, Michelle Calixto, Jayden Malagon, and Yuliana Perez Reyna.

Dinuba FFA’s vine pruning team had a fun and successful season. Members spent the last three months travelling across the valley for contests, including our own host event, Reedley College, Selma, and even St. Helena in the Napa Valley. The season came to an end at the Fresno State Mid-Winter Finals. Members showed tremendous growth and dedication over this season.
At the last contest of the year, competitors competed in bilateral spurs and quadrilateral spurs, for table and wine, as well as cane for table and raisins. Members spent long days practicing at local vineyards, improving their skill. Not only do member have to be able to properly prune, they must verbally explain and demonstrate knowledge of why their prune in the fashion they do. This portion of the contest improves
