 The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Instructor Aptitude Course

The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) Instructor Aptitude Course is a four-week selection process for any Instructors at the RMAS. SNCO instructors assist in developing Officer Cadets (OCdts) courage, character and competence to the level demanded of an Army officer on first appointment.
From the 12th of February to the 10th of March SSgt Lewis attended the RMAS
Instructor
candidates are required to deliver lessons in BCD, drill, tactics, fieldcraft and SAA. They undergo
academic assessments, debates, interviews, discussion groups, also getting assessed on the combat estimate and orders process. Candidates
undertake all the key physical assessments that the Officer Cadets
undertake throughout the 44-week commissioning course including; The dreaded 5 ways, the endurance race, bayonet training, Platoon
log race and Ex LONG REACH, a navigation exercise conducted in the Black Mountains covering over 64 km within 36 hrs, all designed to put candidates under intense pressure.
The RMAS Instructor Aptitude Course 2023 was attended by 48 SNCOs of all Arms and Services across the Army, with 26 being successfully selected for the prestigious position of RMAS Instructor at the highest regarded world class training academy. These are instructors who uphold the very highest standards and traditions of their profession and cap badge, who will inspire future officer leaders with the values, professionalism and experiences of their own service.
On completion of the RMAS Instructor Aptitude Course SSgt Lewis was selected to become the first RAVC instructor at the RMAS. Due to start in the winter term (September 2023) SSgt Lewis will conduct a period of continuation training prior to her 2-year employment where she will play a vital role in the successful training and education of OCdts for the Field Army.
