Matty Hedgehog and the Paper Chase
The young squirrel went to the back of the school and squeezed through a gap in the door. He found Paris covered in mud and lying flat on the floor. ‘He’s here!’ she said, pointing under a wooden panel. ‘Can you see him?’
Jackson lay down and said: ‘Matty, can you hear me? It’s all right. We’ll soon get you out.’
‘Hurry, Jacko. I can’t breathe. I’m sinking into a muddy hole. I can’t feel my feet anymore.’
Jackson told Paris to keep Matty talking whilst he went home for help. He vaulted over the school fence and ran back to where Isla and Archie were patiently waiting. ‘We have to go back to the garden. Matty is stuck in a hole under the classroom wall. We have to get help.’
Jackson sprinted through the grass, jumping over stones
