That night, Sam decided to sit with Doctor Drake and watch over his son. He wasn’t surprised at Betsy’s outburst and expected her to return in the morning.
The next day, she decided to close the Hog Bakery until further notice and placed signs in the shop windows. Charlie and Alfie thought she was acting hastily, but Betsy knew she simply couldn’t cope with the business at this stressful time. Sadie had offered to do the baking, but the hedgehog wasn’t interested.
News of the accident quickly spread across the district and had reached Dolly Partridge’s hotel. She was surprised to hear that Betsy had temporarily closed the Hog Bakery.
