The easily-removable 4 tooth steel tines provide a tilling width of 370mm, and the depth can be controlled by adjusting the rear depth control bar. I have had my allotment in Forest Hall, Newcastle Upon Tyne for 11 years and I grow both vegetables and owers.
A few years ago I decided that I would create a wildlife area in one corner of my allotment; I built a pond, created a log pile and planted the area with bee/insect friendly owers to not only bene t my allotment, but to provide a natural habitat. It is the only wildlife area on the site. I have an abundance of frogs and toads,
not to mention bees and butter ies. This year, to my delight, I have had a resident hedgehog which has been a very welcome addition, given the slugs I have had this year!
I entered the Wilko completion thinking that I wouldn’t stand a chance with
it being a national competition. I was delighted to hear that I won my category and absolutely gobsmacked to learn that I won Wilko amateur gardener of the year!
My allotment gives me a lot of enjoyment throughout the year. Having suffered from depression in the past I have also found it a great form of therapy.
I intend to use the prize money to develop my allotment.
