Volunteer Action
Volunteer Action is a local charity which has been operating for over 20 years. Although our office is in Oundle, we also support many people in Thrapston and the surrounding villages from Titchmarsh up to Easton on the Hill. If you want to support your community, or need support from your community, we have all kinds of ways in which you can help or be helped:
• Do you need help? If you want to use our
car scheme or befriending service or need a referral to other services, please don’t hesitate to contact us. If you receive Pension Credit Guarantee or PIP, you can be reimbursed
for the cost of hospital journeys. All our volunteers are Disclosure and Barring Service checked.
• Do you like to drive? We run a community car scheme, transporting vulnerable people to hospital, doctors’ appointments and social visits. You can drive as often or as little as you like and we reimburse your expenses. The lack of public transport means this service is vital. We really need more volunteer drivers from the Thrapston area (we currently have 320 members living around Thrapston in our car scheme but only 8 drivers).
• Are you a good listener? As one of our befrienders, you would visit or telephone regularly to provide company and a friendly
