& ABOUT
2nd Thrapston Scout Group
2nd Thrapston Scout Group has had a very busy time since we returned to Scouting after the turbulence of the last 2 years.
We are a growing group that relies on volunteers to help run the sections and whilst
we have some volunteers who have stepped forward, we are still looking for adults to help
in the Beaver and Scout sections. We also need volunteers to go onto our Executive Committee which helps us run the group and make sure we have the finances in place for the group to thrive.
Beavers Our youngest section for young people between the ages of 6 to 8 years.
Since returning they have been pitching
tents, learning to do backwoods cooking, model building, hiking, many indoor activities – craft activities, games and maybe a visit or two. They also get to go to sleepovers. Beavers will earn badges in all these activities plus have plenty of fun. When they turn 8, they will move into Cubs.
Cubs This section is for young people between the ages of 8 to 10 years.
They have been pioneering (the art of using
ropes and wooden spars joined by lashings and knots to create a structure);camping where they learned many new skills (cooking, fire lighting, tent pitching, and archery to name a few); hiking, as well as many indoor activities such as mini pioneering; map reading and home safety.
Cubs also get to earn many badges in all activities. The next stage on their journey is to go into the Scout section when they turn 10.
Scouts This section is for young people between the ages of 10 to 14 years.
Currently in Thrapston we do not have a Scout section as we are still looking for volunteers to help run it. If you are interested, then please get in touch and help us re-open this section.
