AWARD RECIPIENT

In July E Company's SSI Donna Hawley travelled to London to receive the prestigious British Citizen Award (BCAv).
The award was made in recognition of her 21 years of fund raising for numerous causes, including hundreds of pounds for the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK (ACCTUK). Including challenges such as sky diving, Tough Mudder Challenge, endurance bike rides, such as Liverpool to Leeds, 100 mile London bike ride, and London to Amsterdam bike ride.
The number of challenges SSI Hawley has undertaken, and the funds raised, have made a significant difference to the charities she supports.
She travelled to London where she was presented with the BCA medal in the House of Lords, then did a lap of honour around central London on an open top bus and was presented with the Certificate of Honour at Church House in the Palace of Westminster.
SSI Hawley has the additional honour of being allowed to use the post nominals BCAv after her name.

  Visit of the Mayor of Kirklees to Huddersfield
Detachment

The Mayor of Kirklees, Councillor Nosheen Dad, visited Huddersfield Detachment on Tuesday 10th September 2024.
She took time out to meet and speak with the cadets and staff during their detachment training evening. Dressed with her ceremonial chain, the Mayor shared her admiration for the dedication and commitment of the cadets and adult volunteers, many of whom regularly participate in leadership, adventure training, and community service activities. The cadets in return, had the opportunity to showcase their skills and talk about experiences they have gained from being part of the ACF. They proudly talked about their achievements, that reflect both individual and team efforts within the detachment.
The Mayor learned about the personal development opportunities offered by the ACF, including first aid training, outdoor expeditions, D of E and BTEC. The visit concluded with a group photo and a personal message from the Mayor, encouraging the cadets to continue their positive work in the Army Cadet Force.
