EXPEDITION, BAVARIA

From the 9th to the 18th August 2024 Cadet Corporal Abi Hueston of Thornbury Detachment completed her Gold D of E expedition in Bavaria, Germany.
During the first two days the party prepared route cards, meal plans and completed an acclimatisation walk in preparation for the expedition.
On day one Cpl Hueston and her teammates completed 12 miles, walking through a local attraction called Breitachklamm. On day two the party walked 13 miles and crossed the border between Austria and Germany multiple times along the route. On day three the group walked 10 miles starting in Oberjoch and ending in a place called Wertach. The group spent the final day of the expedition walking 7 miles, and being surprised by the Assessors at the third checkpoint.
After the expedition was complete Abi and her new found friends spent the afternoon shopping
for souvenirs to take home. The cadets finished the day with a BBQ at Hausam Brunnembach. Having all passed their Gold D of E expedition section, the party returned to the UK via ferry and mini bus.
Cpl Hueston has since been promoted to Cadet Sergeant, congratulations and well done.
