“Where do I belong?”.
We teach on the RE and PSHE curriculums
in schools and do lessons on everything from Fair Trade and justice to social media and the dangers of pornography.
We help young people improve their mental health through our GROW groups.
We’re Christians, so we’re also passionate about helping local churches to do excellent work with young people.
How many people work with you? I’m part of a team of five; they’re all fantastically skilled and they’re all on a mission to help young people.
Describe your charity in five words... Fun. Hopeful. Full of faith.
What makes Souster Youth different? Our culture and our people. I’m so proud of my team, they’re the best I’ve seen.
Our culture is shaped around what we know young people need the most - then we spend all
our time and energy making sure we only do that stuff.
Who makes you laugh? The way my son always finds loopholes in any rules we give him! They’re often so ingenious you simply have to laugh!
Dinner out or at home? Dinner out.
Five Guys is a favourite: burger, chips and a chocolate maltshake. (They recently stopped doing the malt flavouring...WHY?!!)
...and a favourite tipple to go with it? I’d have my tipple before dinner. A Negroni please.
Jaffa cake or Hobnob? Hobnob – the chocolate covered ones.
Who inspires you? The young people I work with every day. I see them face massive challenges with the hope that things can get better. That’s worth getting out of bed for.
