This year in London Central Garrison (LCG) has been a busy year to say the least. LCG is home to 3 Public duty Incremental Companies (PDICs), those being Nijmegan Company GREN GDS, No 7 Company COLDM GDS and F Coy SCOTS GDS. It is also home to 5 Household Division (HDiv) Bands, Welsh Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards, Coldstream Guards and Grenadier Guards Band. The battle rhythm within LCG and focus of the unit is State Ceremonial and Public Duties, with physical development not far behind.
During this year, I had the privilege again of witnessing the Queen’s birthday parade. I am sure you can imagine the amount of rehearsals and inspection time to get such a high profile and world reaching event to its conclusion, is down to the hard work and attention to detail of the Guard units.
Upon completion of the Queen’s birthday parade the PDICS and Band’s rotate through AT packages, Sports, various other PD related activities and block leave. A few highlights of 2017 included attending the annual remembrance parade at Westminster Abbey alongside fellow RAPTCIs past and present ‘Remembrance parade’,

going on a tour of the Houses of Parliament with SSgt Ian Tosh ‘Westminster Abbey Tour’ and welcoming the outgoing LONDIST SMI, Mr Ian Navin as an SIO PT at London Central Garrison.
This year was capped off in true LONDIST RAPTCI style, suited and booted at a posh restaurant in Canary Wharf. This gave us the opportunity to welcome into the District the new SMI – WO1 (SMI) Haniver and Sgt (SI) Bloom. It also provided us with the chance to congratulate SSgt (SSI) Andy Burt on his promotion to Warrant Officer Class 2.
To conclude, I have had a fantastic year at LCG with some great highlights in 2017. I am looking forward to events as they unfold 2018, aiming to maximise opportunity, decrease non deployable numbers and enhance the overall physical capability of London Central Garrison.
