Secretaries Office. From 1956 to 1958, he was employed as Commissioner of Labour. He is commemorated 
by a plaque on the south wall of the nave of St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral, Nicosia. His house, which is no 

longer there, was subsequently used as the residence of British Commanders-in-Chief.

Within the whole cemetery lie 409 Royal Navy, Army and RAF personnel together with 167 dependants 

and service employed civilians. In addition, there are five Germans from a bomber crew that crashed 
on the island during the Second World War, and another German who died as a prisoner of war (their
