Since 1974 and the cessation of hostilities which saw the Cemetery temporarily become a battle ground,
the Cemetery has been within the confines of the United Nations Buffer Zone which is a restricted area
of the Island . This has in the past created a certain degree of difficulty for families and visitors. There
is now an established communication between the British High Commission, the Commonwealth War
Graves Commission and the United Nations in Nicosia to ensure that those who wish to visit are helped
in every way possible.
