inspecting for hazards that could lead to employee illness or injury and pointing out potential violations to be
corrected immediately. Lastly, the compliance officer again meets with the organization’s personnel in a
closing conference to discuss the findings of the inspection, the courses of action to be taken to comply with
OSHA standards.
The recent studies have found that at three year follow up, inspections decreased injuries and accidents by an
average of 23% in a variety of firms. The regulatory inspections have also been shown to increase safety. A
project by researchers at the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health reported that companies
undergoing the regulatory inspections experienced a decline of 9% in workplace injuries in the four years after
the inspection, and even more striking, that the costs of reported injuries fell by 26%.”
The Jobsite inspection will include a jobsite walk through and a verification that each jobsite has possession of
the updated written plans and proper postings that were presented in the Annual Safety Training Meeting
Friday April 8, 2016 (see below)
