Safety Memo #26 (N-2) Guidelines for COVID-19 from CDC & LA County Public Health

Please be informed that the current Guidelines for COVID-19 from CDC & LA County Public Health.
Guidelines for COVID-19
Employees who tested positive for COVID-19 and have symptoms will not be allowed to return to the
workplace until the following has occurred:
• 10 days since symptoms first appeared and
• 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and
• Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving*
*Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of
isolation
If you are under the care of a healthcare provider and have been tested positive, they will let you know when
you can resume being around others based on your test results.
Employees who tested positive for COVID-19 and have NO symptoms will not be allowed to return to the
workplace until the following has occurred:
• 10 days have passed since you had a positive viral test for COVID-19.
If you are under the care of a healthcare provider and have been tested positive, they will let you know when
you can resume being around others based on your test results.
Note: If you develop symptoms after testing positive, follow the guidance above for “tested positive for
COVID19 and have symptoms.”
Close Contacts
A close contact is any individual within the workplace with the following exposures to a case while the case
was infectious:
• Presence within 6 feet of the case for more than 15 minutes, or
• Contact with the case’s body fluids and/or secretions, for example, being coughed or sneezed
on, sharing of a drink or food utensils.
Any contact who is symptomatic should immediately be considered a COVID-19 case and should be sent
home to self-isolate and tested for COVID-19.
All asymptomatic close contacts are required to self-quarantine for 14 days from exposure. Staff instructed to
self-isolate or self-quarantine who cannot work remotely should be given paid sick leave.
Incubation Period
The period that someone is considered to be infectious, changed from 48 hours to 2 days before symptoms
begin.
