Safety Memo #36 (A) – CDC Quarantine & Isolation Period Update

[ CDC Quarantine & Isolation Period Update ]
On December 27, 2021, the CDC released an update that shortened quarantine and isolation periods for the general
population.
See below for a breakdown of ACI’s protocols based on the update:
If you test positive for COVID‐19 (Isolation)
• Everyone, regardless of vaccination status:
o Self‐isolate for 5 days.
o If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can stop self‐isolation.
o Wear a well‐fitting mask at all times around others.
o If you have a fever, continue to self‐isolate until your fever resolves.
If you were exposed to someone with COVID‐19
• If you have been boosted OR completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months
OR completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months: (No Quarantine)
o You do not need to quarantine.
o Wear a mask around others for at least 10 days and continue to wear a mask if possible.
o Test on day 5 after exposure.
o If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay home.
• If you completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are NOT boosted OR
completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are NOT boosted OR are unvaccinated: (Quarantine)
o Quarantine for 5 days. After that continue to wear a mask around others.
o If a quarantine is not feasible, wear a well‐fitting mask at all times around others for at least 10 days and
continue to wear a mask if possible.
o Test on day 5 after exposure.
o If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay quarantined.
