I am awaiting replies to all the letters I have posted - and in the hope that none of them cause me any more work!
There are large numbers of books here too - two of our local now redundant telephone boxes have been bought by the local councils and turned into information kiosks and book exchanges. It is very tempting to stick my head round the door to see what is on offer - usually I find something I fancy reading.
So what is everyone reading just now? I am about to finish a very interesting book that son Stu bought at Culloden last year called The Jacobites - totally blows away the romantic view of Bonnie Prince Charlie that is so great for the tourist industry. However I am only reading a chapter a day over coffee otherwise I might find it a bit hard going. Upstairs i.e. morning and at night by coincidence I am reading the 3rd in the trilogy by Nigel Tranter about the early Stewart kings of Scotland. I had had the 2nd for ages and never read it until last year (from a library sale I think) and then of course wanted to read the 3rd and final one - I found that on that wonderful online store that we all hate so much but still use! On a lighter note I am enjoying the crime series set around Lindisfarne by L J Ross - the area around there is not a very safe place to live in at alla bit like Oxford (Morse etc) and Midsommer (of the murders fame).
I see that NTL are showing The Madness of King George this week which should be worth a view.
I have enjoyed reading the beginning of the book from Glenda in more detail as those emails were sent before I joined in. Thank you to everyone who has put this together. I definitely think Barnet Library/archives deserve a copy for future generations as to how OAPs filled their time during lockdown.
It is now 3 months since I last visited a supermarket - I think I might have to go next week - but on chatting to a couple of friends we have decided that actually we like getting our groceries on line and are going to continue that way into the future, with perhaps one visit every 3 weeks or so for odds and sods. I have had some great fish from Cornwall, cheese from Northumbria and the local greengrocer does lovely mixed boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables. I feel that the longer this goes on the more reclusive I am getting which isn't good for me. So I think I will ring a friend and suggest we meet for a coffee on the common on the next nice sunny day - it looks as if next week is getting better.
Must go now as John who helps in the garden is due to arrive any time now. He couldn't come last week as he does hang gliding and had a bad fall in a field just by Malvern Wells cemetery (1) and had to cancel. Fortunately, as it has been dry the grass isn't too bad.

There seems to be some confusion about Version 3. This has NOT been distributed yet. The last edition that I sent out was Version 2. Since distributing Version 2 I have received a number of emails and suggestions, corrections and amendments. Please keep them coming – I do take note and amend the document accordingly. However, I am not sending out this revised version until there has been a major upgrade. So.... to be clear! – only I have Version 3 at present.
However, this does raise a problem about who is getting the document. It is slightly more memory-hungry in Word than in.pdf but both are too big for some of your email accounts to accept. I know this is because the document left my email account (eventually!) but a good seven or eight came bouncing back as undeliverable. I am assuming that this means that your
