Of course I recognise that the economy has got to get going again-and in many ways I am in a fortunate position but......
On the positive side, I have watched some good productions streamed on the internet. Recently I watched a socially distanced production of 'Mountaintop' from the Royal Exchange-based on Martin Luther King's last night in Memphis and the hotel staff member who serves him a coffee. I found it moving and funny-and thought-provoking and topical. Worth watching (and available, free -I think until Monday).

This email is only for those of you who have not been able to open Version 2 of THE BOOK. (I have taken a crash course in Dropbox via a Kindle book called “Dropbox in 30 minutes”. When I opened it in Kindle it said that it would take me 1 hour 24 minutes to read! In fact it has taken me several days!)
All that apart, I have found out how to send the document to people who don’t have Dropbox. This is the web link to the document: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rmp0w7yy196zz3q/Old%20Girls%20Letters%20Version%202.d ocx?dl=0
Theoretically, you ought to be able to click on the link in this email! If you can’t, then copy the link by selecting it and pasting it into your browser (Safari, FireFox, Google Chrome et cetera). You should then be able to see the document. (You will also see some annoying adverts but that’s the price of trying to do this for free! Although Dropbox is free too.)
Next to the document, underneath various symbols (such as an i in a circle, and a square with writing on it there are three horizontal dots looking like - well three horizontal dots ... Left click on this and you’ll see “Download”. It will download THE BOOK to the Downloads folder on your computer.
To Janet: I have added your email to my Dropbox list. Thank you for this. Janet suggests that the reason why some of you are not getting large documents by email is that your mailboxes need emptying. However, as THE BOOK gets longer, and especially if there are many more photographs and cartoons, it will get more memory-hungry and email won’t work for any of us.
To Mags: The rain is no longer coming through my kitchen ceiling! The floor was clean but I have four cats.......
To Mag: I cannot imagine why the file is not showing up in your Dropbox when other people with Dropbox were able to access it. I tried Googling for an answer which suggested that the file was corrupted, or that you were accessing from an android phone (not sure why that should make a difference). The only thing I can suggest is that, unless you have very important folders in your Dropbox which you want to keep (you could always download them to your desktop) you might uninstall your Dropbox app and reinstall it again. You would have to sign in again with all your details I think. I’m suggesting this because it’s possible that your Dropbox app is quite old. The later versions are quite different. In the meantime, you could try the link above and wait to see if you can open anything else that comes your way. It might be just THE BOOK. If I find out anything else I’ll get in touch with you.
From your (nearly) Dropbox expert......
