5.5 Letter of resignation:
A resignation is an occasion when someone announces his
intent in leaving a job, position, company or organisation. It is
also a written statement that says that someone will be leaving.
Therefore, a letter of resignation is the latter that is written
to announce someone's intent to leave a position, which is
currently held.
The following phrases can be utilised in letters of
resignation:
a- It was great working with you but I submit my resignation
as JOB; effective on DATE.
b- I would like to inform you of my resignation from my
current job as JOB; effective on DATE.
c- "I hereby submit my resignation as ……………….. .
It is important to state to the employer the intent of
resigning in plain English. It could be nice to state the reason for
resigning. If the employee is resigning because of a personal
reason or a better offer in another company, this can be
mentioned. However, if the employee is resigning because the
company's policy is bad or has an unfair system, this should not
be mentioned. It is very important for the employee to give the
employer the enough time to fill his/her position.
