bridegroom-to-be patronized the same bar as Percival. Instead of remaining aloof, Percival made
friends with the man who soon would be his uncle. One afternoon, after a few drinks, he said,
"I'll be frank with you, Jeffrey. I was hoping that Aunt Stella would leave her money to me when
she dies, but now everything is changed and I'm not going to quibble abut it. You have won!"
Jeffrey looked at Percival in surprise. "What are you talking about? Look." He took a letter from
his briefcase. It was written by Aunt Stella, with her familiar signature scrawled at the bottom of
the page. "My relatives all think I'm rich, and I once was. Except for sufficient money to live on,
I gave everything to charity two years age."
