the tormenting spirit troubles you. He will play
soothing music, and you will soon be well again.”
“All right,” Saul said. “Find me someone who
plays well, and bring him here.” One of the
servants said to Saul, “One of Jesse’s sons from
Bethlehem is a talented harp player. Not only
that—he is a brave warrior, a man of war, and has
good judgment. He is also a fine-looking young
man, and the Lord is with him”
(1 Samuel 16:13-18, NLT).
The king requested for someone to be sought who could
minister deliverance to him by playing the harp. What do
we know about David who was sought to play this role?
i. They found David: He was an Israelite, a son of Jesse,
from Bethlehem. They did not need to bring in a
foreigner to attend to a demonic condition in the
national leader.
ii. A talented harp player: David qualified for what the
king sought. He was to use his skills on the harp to
minister deliverance to the king.
iii. A brave warrior: David was a mighty man of valour.
He was a courageous man. It takes courage, and not
just grace, to take up a great challenge. David took up
the challenge to rise against a lion, a bear and the giant
Goliath because he was brave.
