GRACE, Exploring Its Riches
iv. A man of war: He did not only possess might, he was
willing to engage it bravely in a war. There were
several warriors in the battlefront when Goliath came
to challenge the army of Israel, but none was willing to
present himself against the giant until David showed
up and took the challenge.
v. He had good judgement. One translation says
David was “...prudent in speech....” This goes to show
that he was not given to playacting or speaking rashly
or without thought.
vi. David was a handsome man. He looked good and
made the effort to make himself presentable.
vii. The LORD was with him. This is the highest
recommendation a person should seek to have. It is
what attracts and sustains the grace of God in a person.
Thus divine presence enhances the other good
qualities in a man’s life.
The foregoing shows that David operated with manifold
grace on his life. This enabled him to do several things
effectively and productively. Everyone who has to
multitask or carry out several and diverse functions should
seek to operate with manifold grace of God.
