ne of my fondest memories involving Terri is visiting
her parents in their home for the fi rst time. She
Obriefed me before the visit on Italian meal customs:
1. Come hungry because there will be lots of food.
2. On your second to last plate of food you say “Basta!”,
which means “Enough!”. It is important to say this before you
are full as you will still be expected to eat a fi nal serving of
food that no amount of objections will get you out of.
3. If you eat too much, do not worry, once the meal has
concluded there is a tradition called “posizione orizzontale”
in which you lie down for a bit to digest all the delicious food
you just ate.
Terri is always the warmest most inviting person at any
gathering. Always genuinely happy to see everyone. Seeing
the love in that house made it clear that the apple didn’t fall
far from the tree.
