Page 48 - Terri 60 years
P. 48
T erri Tinella turns 60!
Whenever I think of Terri, the fi rst image I get is her
great big smile. Also, Terri is still the only person I
know who could drink espressos after dinner and sleep
tight! Still true, Terri?
A few years after I had moved out to Vancouver Island, Terri
and I happened to be in the Vancouver airport at the same
time with layovers as we headed in opposite directions
across the country. We met up and had a tea and had much
to get caught up on. At one point, Terri asked me what time
my plane departure was and I had a moment of panic and
then a good laugh as we realized that I had
missed my fl ight to Victoria by about an hour
as I remember.
But less than ten years ago Terri and I realized
that we were going to be in Whistler at the
same time. It was completely unplanned and
worked out perfectly. Family and friends all met
at the Garibaldi Lift Company, found a table
for 12 at Happy Hour and afterwards left each
other with plans to arrange to meet Terri the
next day to go shopping with my daughter for
a new ski jacket.
In the morning as Terri and I talked to each
other on our phones it dawned on us that we
could be staying in the same resort. One of us
asked the other to go out on her balcony and
there was Terri on a balcony almost directly
across from me! Totally unplanned but such
a wonderful memory to see her smiling face
across the lane in Whistler! Elizabeth still wears
the ski jacket that Terri found for her!
No one welcomes people to her home and her
table with as much thought and grace as Terri.
Gord, Elizabeth, Tom and I are lucky to have kept her in our
lives and to have Bruce and Gemma always to look forward
to being with or hearing their news.
Happy Birthday, Terri.
Love to you. Heather and Gord
