W e have been friends since 1979!
It is hard to come up with one story –
we spent endless hours
together at university, sharing meals,
going to football games, sharing two
different houses, laughing A LOT.
Then we had our post-grad get
togethers, dinners at friends houses
(both in Ontario and in B.C.), the
generous Nestlé loot bags and
corporate tour you shared with our
kids, visiting Katarina for the last time,
our reunion trips to New York, San
Francisco, Tofi no, your Vancouver
adventures, our London rendezvous,
our Covid-19 zoom calls, navigating
our professional lives, parenting…
enjoying food, enjoying wine, fi guring
out life and its ups and downs.
But, with all of that being said, I
think what I cherish most of all is
your positive spirit, kind heart, and
endless capacity to give and think of
others. You have been a steady force
and form of support and role model throughout my
life. You are a friend I can talk to without thinking —
knowing that you will listen without judging.
You are someone I can count on to help me see
the “bright side”, as my father would say, or to
appreciate life’s lessons moving forward.
And, you are fun!!
Happy birthday, my dear friend. Once our world
opens up again, I see many adventures ahead (with
hopefully, at least a few, that involve riding our
bicycles). Included with this message is one great
big hug, full of gratitude and joy.
With lots of love,
Charmaine
