GOLESTAN PALACE
One of the most historic monuments of the Iranian capital, was
one of the royal buildings enclosed within the walls of the 16th
century Arg (citadel). A masterpiece of Persian architecture and
a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was the official residence of
the Qajar royal family in the 18th-19th centuries and was used
for important ceremonies by the Pahlavi dynasty. Some of the
items that stand out among the museums and grand halls in-
clude the exhibits of the Ethnographic Museum, the marble
throne, the mosaics made of mirror tiles on the walls, the stained
glass, the priceless Persian carpets and the invaluable treasures
of gifts presented by various leaders to the Iranian shahs.
