Postcard sized images of some of the features of the trees were created and teacher~researchers were asked to
            choose and name some to which they were drawn. Creating names for things helps focus the attention on unique
            qualities and deepen awareness of relations between the observed and the observer, the named and the namer.
            This is very different from a process of ‘labelling’ which is more one of reducing the thing to its concept, a more
            generalised categorisation of things rather than an in depth study of  ‘this thing’ in relation to other things and
            experiences.
