“The materials have kind of changed me”

Deep relationships with and sensitivity to the trees and subtle qualities of
’treeness’ were reflected in the materials offered by the teacher~researchers:
lacy, sparkly, transparent, translucent, prints with bold shapes and forms and a

very wide interpretation of ‘fabric’. As each teacher~researcher arrived, they
were invited to lay out their fabrics in a pleasing way. The arranging and

re-arranging reflected a desire to find a harmonious whole, whilst also
honouring the differences between each fabric.
