Lists of describing words were created. Then more words were added as teachers worked backwards and
forwards with the materials. Soon it became clear that each ‘language’ influenced the other as they were brought
into ‘confronto’. Drawing elicited new words. Words suggested materials to be selected. Materials suggested new
words. With each choice, richer and more complex connections with ‘treeness‘ were being created. Drawing no
longer generated anxiety. Teacher~researchers calmly and intently focused on the postcard and reinterpreted
what they saw.
