The sounds of running a hand over the vines.
Strong relations with ‘this tree’ generated sensitivities to the subtle nature of these trees and to the relations
between them and the wider domain: light and shade; moods; shapes and forms; beauty; pattern; sound and
emotion. These sensitivities in turn, generated complex expressions and attention to detail. We were reminded of
Bateson who wrote that engagement with aesthetic processes, processes that activate our responsiveness to
pattern which connects, enables us to see beyond the limitations of our conscious, conceptual minds.
