The effect of recycling on us and our environment
Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment.
Harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses are released from landfill sites. Recycling helps to
reduce the pollution caused by these wastes. Even the smallest step can have a significant
benefit for the environment such as having two trash cans in the house, one for trash such as
leftover food, and the other for items that can be recycled such as, cans, etc.
Ever felt like waste can be better disposed? Or better used? Well it can! For instance, when
you recycle paper, it will have a direct effect on how many trees are being cut down. Now
instead of throwing paper or plastics away, you can use it to make things that can be used in
the house as well as selling your recyclable items to waste companies that have the know-how
to recycle these items therefore making some extra cash in the process. On the other hand,
items can be recycled to form works of art. Art and recycling go hand in hand. Eco artists are,
nowadays transforming old recycled and used objects into amazing works of art. The trend
started gaining prominence in the 1980's when museums and galleries in the Western world,
opened their doors for such innovation and creativity. Here below is
an example of a fish made out of plastic bottles and also a whale
sculpture made out of willow and 70,000 plastic bottles.
Here at Blooms Academy, in our little way also do some recycling art
projects. So I now challenge you, to do as much recycling as we can,
not just for us, but our environment, start by getting a recycling bin,
it's never too late to start.
