A Personal and Indepth Interview with Dennis Hillard
a full time quality officer and the assistance of all laboratory employees.
I am proud of the training we provide to law enforcement with the assistance not
only from laboratory staff but also from active and retired law enforcement officers
as instructors in the course. I am fortunate to have the support of many large and
small police departments throughout the state. My staff is the reason for the labora-
tory’s accreditation status as it is necessary that all staff contribute to this effort in
conjunction with the Quality Office and the Quality Manager.
Sonya Trippett: Please tell me about the MOST rewarding experience that you
have had in your career while working as the Crime Lab Director for the University
of Rhode Island?
Dennis Hilliard: Being able to select the best candidates for the eight full time
positions in the Laboratory. Having excellent and dedicated employees has lead to
all the successes I have experienced during my career and to the status of tech labo-
ratory. I have been very fortunate in the selections I have made in the hiring of the
members of my staff.
