When your spine is out of alignment, the surrounding muscles and ligaments try to
compensate. Continuing regular activities without proper alignment will cause the
subluxation to persist, leading to more pain, swelling, muscle splinting, and
premature wear and tear (arthritis).

Important Reminder:

“A great workout on a poorly-aligned spine can actually do more harm than
good. Like new tires wear quickly on one side if not aligned, your body can
suffer localized stress and injury from exercising with subluxations!”

                                                                              David N. Adler, D.C.

By seeking chiropractic care and learning the proper way to prevent these problems,
you can take charge of your own health and wellness. Some people try to “hang in
there,” or say “I’ll work through it,” until the suffering becomes too much to bear.
But why? You can get to the cause – sooner rather than later – and take care of your
body in a way that your body takes care of you.

We love this saying:

“If you wear out your body… where are you going to live?”

The Course of Chiropractic Care

At Adler Family Chiropractic, a course of care begins with a thorough assessment of
your history and complaints, and an examination to determine the severity of the
problem and how long it has existed. You can expect to be treated as a person of
priority, with care directed toward addressing your individual health concerns.

Health History:
The first step is to complete a detailed health history by listing old injuries and
chronic health problems, as well as current symptoms.

Patient Consultation:
After reviewing the health history, Dr. Adler will discuss any health concerns with
you, as well as daily physical and mental stresses, and how these may have impacted
your health. This process is essential to determining the most effective course of
chiropractic care.

Patient Examination:
The next step is a detailed chiropractic spinal examination. This consists of palpating
the soft tissues, evaluating the range of motion, and testing the level of and nerve
function in each area of the spine. Dr. Adler then conducts any necessary orthopedic
and neurological examination. If the examination reveals a condition that requires
another type of specialist, Dr. Adler will explain these findings and make the
appropriate recommendations.

How X-rays Are Used:
The examination often includes standing x-rays that show the spine in its natural
weight-bearing state. X-rays allow the doctor to determine if conditions like arthritis,
disc degeneration, or other pathologies exist.
