The Split Jerusalem
Jerusalem of post-War of Independence was split in two – the
Jordanian Jerusalem and the Israeli Jerusalem.
A border passed between them, and it was forbidden to cross
from one side to the other side.
The Jews that very much missed their old Jerusalem and all of
the holy sites would get to different places along the border with
Jordan.
They would look at the old city and tell their children about the
city in which they had once lived and about the streets and
courtyards…
And everyone look over toward the Kotel and hoped that the
day would come when they could reach it and touch it and pray
there.
