Flu Hysteria

Months of calls from every possible factor of the health system for the public to prepare for winter and get
vaccinated fell on deaf ears. Until the reports came. What the calls to the public didn't do, hysteria did. And
so today, (those) who wanted to get vaccinated realized it's hardly a simple task. One million eight hundred
thousand vaccines were ordered by the HMOs this year. Macabi (HMO) already announced finishing all of
(its) vaccines stock. Other HMOs have several thousands left. As far as the Ministry of Health is concerned,
the number of cases reported thus far isn't unusual, meaning the flu peak is still ahead. While many Israelis
are searching frantically for vaccines, others are asking whether it's not too late to get vaccinated. The answer
by the way, is unequivocal. In about two weeks more vaccines are supposed to get to Israel, and in the
meantime, like every winter, occupancy in hospitals is starting to go up.
