Women’s Day

Recently Yael Cohen Faran came in to office as a Knesset Member. She is the thirty second woman
who serves in this Knesset, an all-time record. Women’s organizations tell us that it’s still early to be happy.
They say that there aren’t enough women in key roles and that there are still a lot of things to work on like
fighting [a war on] violence against women and women’s wages that are much lower than men’s. Now there
are a lot of mothers in the Knesset and they want to be considered. They’re trying to change the hours when
there are sessions at the Knesset. Instead of three long days they want to work (for) five days, but shorter. It’s
still unclear whether they’ll succeed. Women have come a long way over the years, but is it okay to settle for
this?
