NETBALL
NETBALL
Olivia Harris has been playing Netball since
Year 7, and has been in the BMGS 1st VII
since Year 9.
A talented Goal Attack/Goal Shooter, Olivia
has also been a member of the Penrith
District Rep team from her first entry in the
10 Years Development squad to this year in
the 17 Years squad.
Olivia has been selected to play in the
ISA Squad from Year 8 to this year, and in
2022 and again this year, Olivia gained CIS
representation to the 17s squad.
In 2021, Olivia trialled for the NSW U17s,
and again in 2022, but this year was selected
and, in April, Olivia was a member of the
NSWS team which competed at the National
Championships, held in Darwin.
This was a round-robin tournament, and NSW finished the qualifying rounds in
second place and moving into the Semi Finals. NSW defeated Victoria, playing
Queensland in the Finals, where they were defeated by only two goals.
A week after this competition concluded, Olivia was named in a group of 36 players
australia-wide, from which the U19 Australian team will be selected. Olivia is also
a member of the Western Sydney Academy of Sport, and regular readers of the
Altiora would be aware that it is not just in Netball that Olivia excels, but also in
Rowing, where she has enjoyed considerable representative success.
In her role as Co-Captain of BMGS Netball, Olivia has led by example for all girls
playing the sport at our School, and inspired the younger players through her
coaching duties. Adding to the other highlights of this year, our BMGS First VII won
the ISA Division 2 Premiership and, as a result of her national representation, Olivia
was awarded Gold Colours for Netball - and a Grammar Blue for Rowing - at this
year’s Valedictory Dinner.
MOUNT AIN BIKING
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Many of our students participate in Mountain
Biking, and in BMGS sent a team of athletes
to compete in the Australian Interschool
Mountain Biking Challenge (MTB) at Thredbo.
Through the efforts of the Rutherford family,
whom we sincerely thank, participation in
the many competitions through the year has
provided a great experience for all involved.
BMGS had ten students representing in all
the events: Lucas Rutherford (Year 6, Div 4),
Fabian Boda-Tulogdi, Marlow Terry, Xavier
Johnson (all Year 8, Div 3), Oliver Rutherford,
Neil Geikie, Finn Snedden, Dylan Robilliard (all
Year 9 and Div 2), and Jett Fendall (Year 12,
Div 1).
As a result of the students’ final placings in
their events, overall BMGS placed 73 out of
294 schools from around Australia. Top places
were Fabian who came 6 in Cannonball,

Oliver placed 7 in the Cross Country and
Lucas who placed 6 also in the Cross Country.
