A Comedy of Tenors
THE GROVE HALL’S NEWEST
COMEDY SENSATION
Mona ROCHON
Last weekend was the first of three for the
new Rural Arts Project presentation. The cast
is currently presenting A Comedy of Tenors,
Ken Ludwig’s sequel to his Tony-winning
play Lend me a Tenor.
Featuring Christopher Crilly, Connor Stacey,
Iris Delagrange, Tina Tucker Bye, Jérémie Roy,
Howard Welburn and, in her theatrical debut,
Alla Buskin, this slapstick comedy earns more
than just a few laughs.
The actors, all of them local talents, are
superb. Howard Welburn’s switching between
his two characters is flawless. Also impressive
is the three tenors’ ability to actually sing.
This play is about producer Henry Saunders
trying to put together the opera show of the
century, with the help of his assistant turned
son-in-law Max. In the few hours before the
start of the show, the main attraction, Tito
Mirelli, quits after finding out his wife Maria is
cheating on him with his stage rival Carlo
Nucci. The same Carlo who wishes to marry
Tito and Maria’s daughter Mimi. From there,
everything starts to spiral out of control for Howard Welburn, Iris Delagrange and Jérémie Roy February 21, 2018
