de-Valleyfield, earlier this year, to help pay for
the trip and the competition.
The championship in San Juan, Argentina,
was his first international competition, and he
fared very well, finishing 21st among
26 athletes, some of which were much older
than he was, and had more experience in
World level competition than he had. Some
competitors are able to paddle year-round
because they live in areas where the weather
is much warmer than it is here. Kayakists in
Canada usually paddle during the
summer only.
It is noteworthy to mention that Davignon,
a senior year student at the Chateauguay
Valley Highschool, was the only representa-
tive of the Province of Quebec in this
competition, and within the Canadian team.
Davignon made the trip along with his
parents. According to his mother Carole
Leroux, he really enjoyed this experience, in
spite of the fact he did not make the
semi-finals. The level of performance he has Marc-Antoine Davignon November 8, 2017
